About the therapist

Wanda DeVaughn, LCSW, RYT (500) earned her B.A. in psychology from the University of Arizona and her Masters in Social Work from the University of Georgia (1980). Following 10 years as a therapist in psychiatric hospitals and community mental health centers she entered private practice full time in 1990. Her practice focuses on adult individuals, couples and groups, addressing issues of depression, anxiety, abuse issues, relationship difficulties, infidelity, codependency, addictions, life transitions, spirituality, and women’s issues.

Wanda began mindfulness meditation around 1990, which eventually led her to yoga. In 1997, Wanda received her first level of teacher training certification as a yoga therapist, and in 2008, after a training a month at the Himalayan Institute and other sites in India, she received her 500 hour level teacher training certification.

Along with traditional approaches to therapy, Wanda brings her meditation and yoga therapy experience to clients who are interested. She is owner and director of the Marietta Center for Yoga and Well Being, which offers counseling and psychotherapy, yoga therapy, yoga, holistic workshops, and yoga retreats. Others at the Center offer classes, workshops and massage.

Some traditional approaches she may use in therapy:

  • Cognitive behavioral
  • Solution focused
  • Gestalt
  • Psychodynamic
  • Humanistic Psychology

Some non-traditional approaches she may use:

  • NET, Neuro Muscular Technique, a technique which uses Meridian Access Points on your wrists and muscle testing to rapidly remove blocks to being fully present in your life.
  • Mindfulness/Mantra Meditation
  • Chakra Awareness and Balancing
  • Yoga therapy, which may involve physical movement, breath awareness and exercises, philosophy, and relaxation techniques.

Wanda’s main concern is to offer you a safe, compassionate place for you to open up to yourself -- where you are honored as a whole person with many facets, some of which no longer serve you.
